Migration to Shopify Plus Platform

Phytoceutics is an innovative brand from South Africa operating in the Science-Driven Wellness segment. The company builds its market edge on scientifically validated supplement formulas and advanced ingredient delivery technologies – such as liposomal formulations.

It’s a rapidly growing DTC business that, at a certain stage of its growth, realised the need to move beyond its existing platform. To continue scaling sales and expanding globally, a more stable and flexible e-commerce solution was required – and that’s exactly what we had the pleasure to deliver.

Brand’s challenges

The main challenges could be divided into two areas: technology and image. From a technological perspective, secure data transfer enabling process automation was key.

From a brand perspective, the new store had to stay true to the brand’s DNA – it needed to be visually appealing, modern, and reflect the scientific nature of Phytoceutics’ products. Additionally, the UX/UI design had to clearly communicate the scientific advancement behind each formula and its health benefits – from gut health to longevity – all while staying aligned with the brand’s philosophy: “Be a Force of Nature.”

This project became a blend of science, aesthetics, and authenticity – brought together into one cohesive shopping experience.

Our solutions

We kicked off the project with Discovery Workshops, which allowed us to deeply understand the brand, its values, and business goals. Thanks to that, our very first architecture and design concepts were approved – confirming we were on the right path.

The final platform of choice was Shopify, selected for its global scalability, reliability, and ease of maintenance.

Based on workshop insights, we designed a fully custom interface from scratch – without using any templates. Our design focused on modernity, fluidity, and dynamic visual storytelling through smooth animations and thoughtful use of video. The information architecture was structured to strengthen the brand’s expert image and clearly communicate the scientific benefits of its products.

During the development phase, we focused on creating functionalities that effectively support sales and increase user education. We implemented, among other things:

  • Supplement selection quiz – an interactive configurator that helps users select products tailored to their individual needs. Thanks to full integration with Klaviyo, it enables personalised recommendations, automated communication, and remarketing, which has translated into increased conversion rates.
  • Subscription model – an extension available directly on product pages, offering flexible delivery and discount options. The implemented subscription system encourages regular purchases and increases CLV (customer lifetime value).
  • Cross-sell and up-sell – intelligent recommendation modules that present related or higher-end products to the user. This has increased the average basket value and enhanced the shopping experience.
  • Abandoned cart recovery system – an automation suite that, thanks to integration with Klaviyo, uses emails and push notifications to remind users of their unfinished purchases. The implementation has significantly reduced the number of lost transactions and improved final sales.

Common results

This project was the result of true collaboration. The Phytoceutics team was actively involved at every stage, and together we built a modern, flexible e-commerce platform aligned with the spirit of Science-Driven Wellness.

Key outcomes:

  • Ready for global expansion – a stable, scalable Shopify platform with no performance limitations.
  • Enhanced brand image – a cohesive, elegant design that highlights the scientific nature of the products and builds customer trust.
  • Higher LTV and conversion rates – achieved through personalised quizzes, subscription programs, cross sell and upsell activities, and cart sales nudges.
  • Process automation – secure data migration, which translates into business continuity and lower operating costs.
