Shopify is getting more popular in Poland (check out our Polish Shopify blog). WeCanFly is an agency that specializes in Shopify design, development and optimization. We stay on top of Shopify-related news all around the globe, so we will keep updating this post.
What courier service should I integrate with Shopify?
If you target Polish consumers, it’s best to use courier services that are familiar to Polish consumers. What are the most popular shipping services in Poland? Those are InPost (with its Paczkomat parcel lockers), DPD, DHL, GLS, UPS, FedEx (which took over TNT – in Poland the two became one company in 2020), Poczta Polska and ORLEN Paczka. We would recommend you to consider those services if you’re about to launch your Shopify store that targets local customers.
How can you sync them with Shopify or Shopify Plus? Today you have three main options:
- An app from the Shopify App Store dedicated to a specific carrier;
- A multi-carrier shipping platform or an order management system, such as Sendcloud or Base (formerly BaseLinker);
- A custom integration built for your store, like the courier integration we offer.
Each option has its pros and cons.
Shopify App Store apps for Polish couriers
Polish carriers are no longer missing from the Shopify App Store. As of September 2026, you can find, among others:
- InPost – oficjalna aplikacja, published by InPost itself: Paczkomat 24/7 lockers, courier, Weekend parcel, labels and returns. It requires the Advanced plan or active Carrier-Calculated Shipping, and the interactive locker map in checkout is available on Shopify Plus only. Third-party InPost apps, such as InPost – Tale Commerce, also let customers pick a locker at checkout.
- DPD Polska and DHL eCommerce (Poland) – both built by Octolize, a third-party developer, not by the carriers.
- InPost Paczkomaty Orlen Paczka for InPost and ORLEN Paczka pickup points, and Paczka w punkt for Pocztex (Poczta Polska) pickup points.
Most of these apps are available in Polish only. Check the reviews, developer and plan requirements before installing one. The downside of this option is that you usually need a separate app for each carrier.
Integrating Shopify with courier services via Base or Sendcloud
The second option is connecting Shopify to a platform that handles many carriers at once. A lot of e-commerce companies in Poland use Base (formerly BaseLinker) to automate business processes. Base now has its own app in the Shopify App Store, so you no longer need to create a private app and generate API keys by hand – private apps don’t exist in Shopify anymore.
Base is free to connect, but you pay for the Base subscription itself, and the price depends on your needs – check the current pricing on base.com. You also need to set up some things in Base, such as syncing type, order statuses and payments.
The con of using Base only to organize shipping is that it becomes your main panel for managing orders. In practice, you work with two panels: Shopify and Base. Base makes the most sense when you also want to connect Shopify with Allegro or other marketplaces, warehouses or accounting apps.
If you only need shipping, a broker platform might be simpler. Sendcloud has a Shopify app that syncs orders and lets you create labels for many carriers from one account.
Integrating Shopify with courier services with a custom integration
If off-the-shelf apps don’t fit your processes, a custom integration is another option. We built one that focuses on just one thing – syncing courier services with your store and managing shipping. See our DHL, DPD, UPS, GLS and FedEx integration and InPost integration pages for details.
How does our integration work?
- Start with configuring courier – we connect via API with most shipping companies
- Set up shipping method
- Edit default package sizes
- The app gets a delivery address from Shopify
- The app allows you to get a courier for chosen orders and generate packing slip
- Once you do everything, Shopify updates order status to fulfilled and gets a package tracking number
What’s the advantage of this option? You work in a single system instead of two. It isn’t listed in the Shopify App Store – we install and maintain it for you. If you need something more specific, we also do custom Shopify app development.
Keep in mind that integrations which show live carrier rates at checkout (including ours and the official InPost app) need third-party Carrier-Calculated Shipping. As of September 2026, it’s included in the Shopify Advanced and Shopify Plus plans, and Shopify Grow stores can add it for an additional monthly fee or by switching to annual billing.
