Brand's Challenge

Shopify's beginnings in Poland were not easy. Due to a lack of dedicated solutions, popular payment gateway operators were reluctant to show interest in the technology. As a result, the very need for their presence was not strongly noticeable, due to Shopify's low popularity at the start of its operation.

However, much changed in 2020 when e-commerce sales literally grew before our eyes due to the lockdown situation. The extreme development of e-commerce platforms in Poland and the massive growth generated by Shopify globally, as it were, caused an increase in interest from business clients in payment gateways.

Przelewy24 came to us with the challenge of creating an official application for their payment gateway in Shopify. We knew that such a task required significant preparation and commitment from both our side and the Client’s side. Knowing the e-commerce market and Shopify itself in Poland, we were also aware of how groundbreaking this step would be.

Our solution

We began the work on developing the application by dividing tasks between our team and activities on the Client's side. After finalizing the administrative and legal issues and preparing the environment, we started writing the application in accordance with the rules and requirements of Przelewy24 and Shopify itself.

The primary task was to deliver the Client’s basic functionalities within the application, allowing for card payments, bank transfers, and BLIK payments. The application currently offers all Przelewy24 payment methods, and the possibility of payments in other currencies is also planned.

The application itself was written by our developers in PHP, based on the Symfony framework, in accordance with the Client’s recommendations and Shopify’s requirements.

Common results

Thanks to this collaboration, we created the first official application supporting the most recognized payment gateway in Poland. This is definitely a groundbreaking moment for the development of Shopify in Poland, and simultaneously an answer to one of the most frequently asked questions we receive!

The product provides not only payment security but also a great degree of merchant autonomy. The official application allows the Client to download the product for their store and install it with a single click. Using the application itself does not require additional onboarding, which opens up access to many smaller e-commerce businesses. Additionally, the panel for configuring the environment is hosted on Przelewy24's official servers, which provides extra security for payment operations.
